About

Welcome to Climate Change Cafe (“CCC”)

The essential purpose of this site is to help you CREATE and/or FIND a climate change discussion and support group in your local community.

We are living in desperate and tragic times and we must come together. CCC offers a starting place to break the mold of isolation and desperation.

More specifically, the purpose of CCC is to:
1) build community by providing face-to-face, in-person interactions
2) learn about the most pressing climate change issues
3) provide a platform you can plug into to create your own support network
4) help find alternatives and solutions to the sick society we have created that is tearing down our world

Many consider creating a climate group but feel daunted or overwhelmed. This site is to help get you over the hump by providing essential tips, resources, and encouragement.

Please visit the Resources Page at this site for a concise list of books, videos, and writing excerpts for your own edification and to use as conversation-starters for creating a climate change cafe.

The idea for a climate change cafe emerged from a discussion and support group I created in the small town of Ojai, California in September, 2018. I’ve discovered that many have fears, sadness, anger, confusion, despair, and feel very alone in these difficult places. Many of us have these difficult feelings and assume we’re alone. In truth, most have the same feelings we do and we discover our common ground when we get together and talk about it.

Many of our family members, work colleagues, and friends don’t want to talk about climate change. As a result, we end up with scarcely an adequate venue to have these much-needed discussions and communions. Climate change cafe is to help normalize both the difficult feelings as well as share climate-related news and related developments.

Climate Change Cafe is a free service but requires funding to upkeep. Please consider making a donation.

We all have to step up and drop in for these times. Please be a leader and local hero by starting a CCC in your community.
