PROCEDURAL GUIDELINES

  • Active listening during cafés is encouraged; try not to interrupt someone who is sharing and be mindful of speaking immediately after someone shares before letting what they share “land.” Practice pausing after someone shares.

  • A safe place for kindred spirits to share and grow.

  • It’s up the facilitator to allow for late participants after the start time. A reasonable tardy window is recommended. If someone is perpetually late and this is disruptive to the group, the facilitator can decide the best way forward.

  • The facilitator has the final word on guiding the group in a way that preserves equality and harmony. If you are an attendee and wish to submit a complaint, please contact us

  • Circles may include meditations, poetry, music, or other activities agreeable to all and that support our practices of reconnection.

  • CCCs are a place to share and simply be heard without being attacked or judged.

  • No one can be excluded from attending unless their presence is unduly disruptive in any way to the greater good of the group. The facilitator has the final word on this.

  • Each CCC must be facilitated; if you can’t make a meeting, consider finding someone to cover for you or cancel the meeting. Make sure to tell us here at CCC if your event cancels so we can remove it promptly from the schedule.

What Climate Change Cafe Is

This is a precious opportunity to share about the most horrific times humanity has ever seen AND the most remarkably grace-filled times humanity has ever seen and be able to share it and hear it and feel it. We can bring the dark when it’s real in our hearts as well as the golden beauty when it’s real in our hearts. Your tears and your laughter are welcome here.

What Climate Change Cafe Is Not

CCC his is not a therapy group. It is not an open invitation for venting, ranting, or “emotional barfing.” We invite conscious expression within the confines of what the circle can hold that respects others space and sense of safety (in the estimation of the facilitator).
